How to Extract Pages From a PDF
Sometimes you need just a few pages from a long PDF β a single invoice from a monthly statement, one chapter from an ebook, or the signed page from a contract. Extracting pages creates a brand-new PDF containing only the pages you select, leaving the original untouched.
When to extract pages
- \1 from a combined monthly statement
- \1 without sending an entire book
- \1 of a contract for records
- \1 from a longer portfolio or report
- \1 into individual documents
How to extract pages with GroPDF
- Open the free [Extract Pages](/extract-pages) tool in your browser.
- Select your PDF. You'll see thumbnails of every page.
- Select the pages you want β click thumbnails or enter page numbers/ranges (e.g., "1, 3-5, 8").
- Download your new PDF containing only those pages, in the order you selected.
Your original file is never modified. Processing happens entirely in your browser.
Page ranges explained
Most extraction tools (including GroPDF's) accept:
- \1 `1, 5, 9`
- \1 `3-7` (pages 3 through 7)
- \1 `1, 3-5, 10-12`
- \1 some tools support relative references
Enter them in the order you want them in the output β `5, 1-3` gives you page 5 first, then pages 1 through 3.
Tips
- \1 The extracted PDF uses the order you specify, not the original order. Arrange intentionally.
- \1 To divide a PDF into multiple files at once, \1 is faster. To pull specific pages into one file, extract.
- \1 instead (keeping everything else), use \1.
- \1 Extracted PDFs are proportionally smaller β extracting 5 pages from a 100-page scan gives you roughly 5% of the original size.
