Cropping sets the PDF crop box — the full content stays in the file, viewers just show the cropped area.

Why crop a PDF?

Scans come with ugly dark borders, slides have excess white space, and some documents just need tighter margins before printing. Cropping a pdf trims the visible area of every page without touching the underlying content.

How to crop a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF onto the page — it never leaves your browser — and you'll see a live preview of the first page.
  2. Drag the margin sliders (top, right, bottom, left). The dashed box on the preview shows exactly what viewers will display.
  3. Optionally limit the crop to a page range like 1-3, 5; leave it blank to crop every page.
  4. Click “Crop PDF” and download. The crop is applied via the PDF crop box, so the full content technically stays in the file.

Because cropping uses the standard crop box, it works in every PDF reader and the file stays fully vector — nothing is rasterized.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping delete content permanently?
Cropping sets the PDF crop box, which hides content outside the box in viewers. The data technically remains in the file — for true removal, use the redact tool concept or re-print the cropped pages.
Can I crop only some pages?
Yes — enter a page range like 1-3, 5, or leave it blank for all pages.
Will cropping reduce file size?
Slightly, if at all — cropping changes the visible area, it doesn't remove images. Use Compress PDF to shrink files.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser.
